Beth Heinen, Head Co-Coach & Lead 8&u & Mini Rays
Coach Beth joins the SVST coaching staff this season with over 9 years of experience at Pleasant Hill Dolfins as the lead 8&u coach. She also has experience coaching at Athenian School and College Park High School. As a coach she believes that swimming is a life long skill and gift, and a team is made stronger by celebrating the unique individuals that make it up. Beth teaches, coaches and inspires athletes with the intention and goal of giving them life long skills that enrich their lives in and out of the pool. She celebrates the joy that is recreational swimming, as far as she is concerned there is nothing more wonderful than this sport! We welcome Coach Beth on deck for her third season!!
Lorissa Anderson, Head Co-Coach 9&up lead coach
Lorissa Anderson is back on deck this summer. She comes from 15 years of competitive swimming experience, including as an assistant coach at University of Michigan. She is active in the Walnut Creek Masters Swimming Program where she continues to compete. When she's not on pool deck, you can find in her a middle school classroom teaching science. We're excited to have Lorissa's second year with us this year!!
Ava MacKay, Assistant Coach
A lifelong Ray, recent college graduate, and an incredibly fast swimmer (check out our records board!), Ava has been helping coach her fellow Rays the since she was a 15 -18 swimmer and we can't imagine a summer at Sun Valley without her. Ava's favorite part about coaching is helping individuals learn correct technical skills while striving to make swimming as fun as possible and encouraging friendships through all age groups. While at Chico State, Ava also coached for the AquaJets. We are thrilled that Ava continues to call Sun Valley home!
Matt Boone, Assistant Coach
This is Matt’s first year coaching for Sun Valley. His prior coaching experience includes Springbrook Hogs and Rudgear Rats. He swam at Yale specializing in butterfly and backstroke. Around Contra Costa County pools you may still see his name on the record boards. When he’s not at the pool you’ll find Matt busy as a local real estate agent. We’re thrilled to have Matt as a part of the Sun Valley Community.
Olivia Williams, Assistant Coach
Olivia, a lifelong Ray, began swimming as a 6&u at Sun Valley. She continued to swim with SVST and specialized in breaststroke. Not only is Olivia fast in the water but you’ll find her out of the water running Cross Country. She will leave the pool at the end of the summer to continue her collegrunning career at Georgetown. We are lucky to have Olivia call Sun Valley home.
Justin JP Rosenblatt, Assistant Coach
Justin started swimming at Sun Valley at the age of five. This season mark’s Justin’s 3rd year of coaching at Sun Valley. His favorite stroke is backstroke. Justin is a recent graduate of Acalanes High School and will head to Washington University in St Louis in the Fall.
