Swim Team Registration Notes
SVSPA Pool Membership
- All Sun Valley Swim Team (SVST) members aged 4-14 must be Sun Valley Swimming Pool Association (SVSPA) members in good standing. The only exception is for swimmers aged 15-18.
- Pool Membership Questions: Email [email protected].
Practice Groups & Assessment
- To maintain optimal coach-to-swimmer ratios, age group registrations are capped and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Coaches may reassign swimmers to different practice groups to balance the teams.
- New Swimmer Assessments: Swimmers new to SVST are required to complete an assessment with the coaching staff in April. This helps ensure proper placement.
Swimmer Readiness
Swimmers are ready for the team if they:
- Can (almost!) swim freestyle the length of the pool (25 yards) without assistance.
- Are comfortable on their back.
- Can hold the side of the pool and listen attentively to coaching instruction.
- Not quite ready? Consider Mini-Rays, a pre-swim team program starting in June.
Spring Trial Option for New Families
New families interested in SVST can participate in Spring Swim without being a pool or swim team member to experience the instruction and team atmosphere.
- $325 for practices, April 6th - May 17th
- Deadline to convert to swim team is April 20th, and the $325 will be applied the $650 team registration.
2026 Job Requirements (Ages 4-14 Families)
Mandatory Volunteer Jobs
- Each family must work approximately 7 regular season jobs (1 job = 1 meet or spirit/social activity). The exact number may vary based on team size and meet responsibilities.
- Championship Meet Job: All swim team families with swimmers age 14 or younger (regardless of role or other exemptions) are also responsible for working one job at the Championship Meet unless a buyout was purchased. Jobs range from timing to organizing lost & found.
Ways to Reduce Volunteer Assignments
- Host a Social Event: Sign up to organize or host a social event (e.g., age group social, Mom's Night) by March 31st. Each social you host/organize will reduce your overall regular season job requirement by 1 job.
- Job Buy-Out Option: A limited number of job buy-outs are available for $800 each, payable at the time of registration. This buyout is for the entire season, including the Championship Meet. The Volunteer Coordinators will arrange substitutes on your behalf, and you will not be responsible for any jobs during the season. This fee reflects the significant need for volunteers to successfully run the team and meets.
